About 45% of your household energy costs are going towards your heating & cooling system.  There are decisions about your home’s heating and cooling that will save you on energy costs and fight global warming, all while improving your comfort:

  • Install a programmable thermostat which can save up to 33% on annual heating & cooling costs.
  • If your current heating & cooling system is over 10 years old consider replacing it with a high efficient system.
  • Be sure to change your furnace filters regularly and call North Winds to perform the bi-annual safety inspection and cleaning of your heating & cooling system.
  • About 20% of the air that moves through the heating/cooling duct system is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts.  Repair or replace damaged, disconnected ducts or straighten tangled or crushed ducts.  You may also need to make changes to duct work since many times air return ducts that have been installed are too small for the system.
  • Tankless water heaters can save you up to 50% on your water heating costs.  They are space savers, environmentally friendly, and will provide you with endless hot water.
